Swirl or Speaker/UFO?

Exploring the different possibilities a logo can offer such as how it works as a pattern, or the best colours to use related to the subject it portrays, is something I find very time consuming.

Last Monday, I thought I’d cracked it with the three e’s joined together to create the swirl effect. Unfortunately, seen by many as a surfer’s logo I created another one that represented a speaker/UFO. Initially, I had my reservations about this logo although it has grown on me, I like how it is can be preserved differently when rotated.

I would be really interested in your opinions about my work so far.

I think the new logo based on a UFO/speaker is growing on me. When I first saw it I didn't really like it too much, but including it on the possible business card ideas puts a different light on it. I prefer it at the angle as well; as it is a square, it gives it better shape I think.

I'm interested to know, though... what makes you associate 'Emit' with space?

I see 'space' in the first logo too: it could be the maelstrom surrounding a blackhole.

Hi Mark

The new logo idea of the saucers is also growing on me, I’m not sure if it would work in Black and white, with some of the colours used.

I prefer the myriad pro font as it seems to be easier to read and it also seems to fit the logo better than Gothikka which seems to look more rocky than ambient.

Thanks, Martyn

It's hard to judge which of the two logos you've developed is the better. Both of them are very strong designs and work in their own way. When it comes down to choosing just one, I'd have to agree with the others and choose the alien one, just from personal preference.

The business cards you have designed with the alien logo look very appealing and have plenty of space to put that all important information. (Which is up on the HND site now!)

Originally I wasn't so sure about the ufo style logo but seeing it on the business cards I think it really works.

For the typeface I would choose Myriad Pro as it is clean and easy to read in logo, headers and also in very small body text for faxes, letters emails etc...

Thank you for all your comments. I have tweaked the logo a little further, after I found out many people could not see the 'i and t.

As previously mentioned I feel disorientated when I listen to the music. Distanced from reality, in a fantasy world. Sometime I feel like I am in the sea looking towards at a desert island, however unable to swim to shore.

Hi Mark

The association with space is evident in your designs as the others have mentioned; was this intentional? My personal choice is the one on the right.

Because of its strong 1:1 ratio I imagine that it would reproduce very well at small sizes.
